The first clinical practice guideline (CPG) for preventing and managing obesity in adults and children was published in 2007. Since that time, the evidence-base and methodological approaches to generate CPGs have advanced substantitally. An updated CPG for managing obesity in children is needed. The purpose of this symposium is to describe the methods and preliminary findings from the research used to inform an update of the Canadian CPG for managing pediatric obesity. Persons interested in the clinical management and treatment of obesity should plan to attend. Concrete illustrations will be used to enhance the learning experience.
